O_O Ugh. I'm NOT DEAD! I just... haven't been producing much real polished art lately. I know it must sound sort of bizarre coming from an art student, but the closest stuff I've been doing lately to "art" is prepro sketches and storyboard panels-- nothing I feel REALLY deserves to be displayed.
With that out of the way, I'm happy to say that last semester I DID get a chance to create some polished prepro work for my traditional animation course. Here's a production maquette. It's Shelly! Of course, she may not look the way many of you are used to seeing her. Since the project dealt with original characters, I figured it would be a good opportunity to use her, but I decided I needed to abandon the Happy Tree Friends style. I had the advantage of already knowing WHO my character was, despite the design retooling. And since it's a production maquette, it's not just a pretty sculpture for the sake a pretty sculpture-- I'm actually currently using it for reference for some of my traditional two-dimensional assignments (a walk cycle, which is really more about her playing hopscotch than walking, as well as a dance).
Media:
wood base, copper wire, fine steel wire and aluminum foil (for the armature), Super Sculpey, acrylic paint, sand, blue ribbon, pastel and pebble
